St. Alban Episcopal Church

The Episcopal Church has been present in Superior since the founding of the Church of the Redeemer in 1855 by Bishop Jackson Kemper. The first service of the Episcopal Church was held in the barroom of Superior House, located in what is now 24th Ave. E and 2nd St. In 1891 a new building was erected at East 4th St and 19th Avenue.

In the late 1800s a mission church located at Broadway and Ogden became St Alban’s Episcopal Church. The building was completed in 1901 and St. Alban’s remained at that location until 1997 when the church property was sold. The building we now occupy was was built at 15th and New York Ave. in 1997. Many interior elements from the original church, such as the wooden pews, Rood screen and stain glass windows, were incorporated into the new building. Having no stairs the new building is wheelchair accessible.

St Alban’s Church worships in the Anglican Catholic tradition. We recognize the primacy of Sacred Scripture which contains all things necessary for our salvation. We believe in the ancient creeds of the Church: Apostle’s Creed, Nicene Creed and Athanasian Creed, and we follow the traditions of the ecumenical councils of the early Church.

Our strong Scriptural basis is balanced with our celebration of the seven Sacraments of the Church. We are reformed and catholic, and our priests are ordained in apostolic succession from the ancient Church.

We are a community of faith that seeks to witness to the saving works of Jesus Christ in our community. As God’s people we are strengthening our relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, the sacraments, and the study of God’s word.

Our services of Holy Eucharist are open to all baptized Christians in good standing with their local church. We warmly invite you to join us on our journey of faith.
