The Society of St. Margaret

The Sisters of St. Margaret are women from diverse backgrounds and countries, each bringing her own unique gifts and abilities to be used in God’s service. As our motto says, we seek to do “everything for God alone, to his greater glory and more perfect love.” We strive to live a balanced life of active work and contemplative prayer, and are committed to partner in mission with others who share our passion for a world of justice, mercy, and peace. As Sisters, we take vows of poverty, celibate chastity, and obedience, listening for the voice of God in all circumstances. Our lives are guided by the principle, “Love first, Love midst, Love last.” In Duxbury we offer offer retreats and holy space to individuals and groups as part of our ministry of hospitality. We also go out to serve, and as we work with children and the elderly, help in parishes, lead retreats and quiet days, we seek always to live as Christ’s hands and heart in this world.
