Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion

Share a story

The Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion is an open, welcoming community. In many ways, Holy Communion is a reflection of the place in which it is located. University City, Missouri is one of the most diverse communities in the state. Similarly, Holy Communion’s membership and lay leadership feature diversity on multiple levels including racial, socio-economic, and sexual orientation. We welcome newcomers of all backgrounds and interests, and seek to help them find a place to participate and worship in this inclusive community.

Holy Communion has a long history of social activism, progressive inclusion, and advocacy for justice. It was the first parish in the St. Louis area to celebrate an interracial marriage, and it invited the Black Panthers to speak to the congregation about their movement. Holy Communion continues to be one of the most integrated congregations in the Diocese. The parish enjoys amazing, diverse and very capable lay leadership. There is great vision for community service and outreach as well as a deep longing to engage young people and youth in new ways.
