Saint Paul’s is a loving, welcoming, feisty little church filled with members from different ethnicities, ages and backgrounds. Everyone is welcomed and loved just the way they are! St. Paul's worships, plays and serve's God together. We are a neighborhood church with a deep love and energy for our community. We like to say we are HERE FOR GOOD. Both meanings apply. After more than 150 years in this place, we're not going away. And what we're here for is to show the goodness of God through word and activities.
Currently, our activities include: Thursday night neighborhood meals, Monthly summer neighborhood barbecues with games and fun, summer Kid's Bible Camp, Worship on Sunday, and holiday events including, pancake suppers, St. Patrick's Day events, Music Concerts and more.
Here are some questions you may have:
What if I'm not used to going to church? Saint Paul’s a comfortable place for those who are curious about God but have never felt comfortable in church. We welcome you to a place where you can learn, apply and wrestle with whom God is and what God wants for you. It's okay if you don't have it all figured out yet. We haven’t figured it all out yet. Let’s struggle together in community.
What will the worship service be like? At Saint Paul’s you will find a traditional Episcopal liturgy experienced in a modern faith. We all struggle together through the different things the world throws at us. The goal through it all is to praise God, love Christ and live in the Spirit.
Are infants, childrens and teens going to find their lane?
We have a play and tumble space at the back of the church for small children and infants. Children are invited to Chapel during the service where they have a short teaching on the Bible lesson and do an activity. We have a couple of teenagers right now. They participate minimally so we don't do any specific activities for them. Rather, they participate in the activities with adults and lead as they desire.
Is Saint Paul’s handicapped accessible? Saint Paul’s is handicapped friendly throughout our entire building including our parish hall and restrooms. We are working hard to become fully accessible. Currently, two of our leaders are wheelchair users, and others have physical disabilities. That is a part of their identity we want to honor, but not our focus. We're about welcoming leaders and helping them find their role here.
What should I wear? At Saint Paul’s, you're welcome to wear whatever you'd like. There is no set dress code. Most of our regulars will be dressed casually. Just be you.
How old is Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church? Saint Paul’s has been serving south Saint Louis’ Carondelet neighborhood since 1868. We’re 21 years older than Coca-Cola!
How can I get involved? That's a really great question. Visit with Pastor Rebecca at a weekend service and stick around after service for donuts and coffee in the parish hall. Whether you want to be active in one of our ministries or minister through prayer and worship in a pew, your presence is welcome and needed in the body of Christ.
