Sewing Women at Trinity

Arts & Culture

This 40+ year ministry at Trinity sews quilts for donation and sale.

The Sewing Women group makes about 100 large and small quilts each year. Large quilts are donated by Trinity to Dunn House, The Maslow Project, Living Opportunities and other local agencies serving persons and families in need.  Many of the baby quilts are purchased by parishioners for donation to children in foster care.

Each fall before Thanksgiving, a special bazaar is held to sell quilts,  exquisite mincemeat and other delectable treats.  The monies raised finance materials for more quilts and special parish projects (such as the chairs and tables in the church library).

Trinity Habitat Ministry

Shelter and Housing

Trinity Habitat Ministry – A Trinity Cadre supports the Apostles Build program in partnership with Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity (RVH4H). Ashland’s Trinity Episcopal Church is one of the Rogue Valley “Apostles” by virtue of a cash donation made to RVH4H through the Trinity Outreach Committee and the work of the Trinity Cadre.

On-going, intermittent work activities and dates are coordinated via the Trinity volunteer coordinator at RVH4H.   Work sessions typically occur on a Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Habitat provides tools and materials and the Trinity Cadre provides the labor.

An Apostle Cadre may be asked to hang siding, do exterior painting, build a fence, do interior painting, wash windows, clean the interior in preparation for occupancy, and other invaluable activities.  In addition, some Habitat volunteers meet during the week to continue working on the building activities.  Other Habitat projects focus on home maintenance for the needy.

Saint Nicholas' Gifts

Aging, Health and Wellbeing

Beginning in mid-November of each year, the St. Nicholas’ Gifts initiative provides new winter clothing (coats, hats, mittens/gloves and socks) for as many local children as possible who are in need.

A commemorative display about St. Nicholas of Myra oversees an evergreen tree which has gift tags for the respective children.  This display and collection point is posted in the Trinity parish hall.  Interested church members select a tag, buy clothing of the indicated sizes, and deliver the tagged gifts to the Parish Hall in early December.

A number of volunteers are needed to prepare gift tags and sort and wrap the gifts for distribution by Jackson County Child Welfare agency.

Trinity Trekkers

Aging, Health and Wellbeing

The Trinity parish group Trinity Trekkers is a friendly hiking cadre gathering on Wednesday mornings year-round.  The Trekkers explore trails throughout the Rogue Valley.  Walks are at a leisurely pace so as to enjoy identifying birds and flowers along the trek.

Members meet weekly, email is sent the night before as to where. Meeting time is 9:00 a.m. in the winter and 8:00 a.m. in the summer. The treks almost always conclude by noon.

Trekkers may include visitors, relatives, and newcomers as well as Trinity parishioners. Trinity Trekkers has a long history at Trinity.  Many new trekkers have developed friendships among the parish group. This is an excellent way to learn about members of the parish when considering membership in Trinity Episcopal Church.

Sacred Ground Race Dialogue Circles

Racial Reconciliation
Sacred Ground

Sacred Ground is dialogue series on race, grounded in faith.  Small groups are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race, racism, and whiteness while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity. The 10-part series is built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories.

Sacred Ground is a resource coming out of Becoming Beloved Community, The Episcopal Church’s long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation, and justice in our personal lives, our ministries, and our society.  This series is especially designed to help white people talk with other white people, while being open to all racial/ethnic groups.  Participants are invited to peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day – all while grounded in our call to faith, hope and love.
