St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church

Share a story

St. Dunstan’s is a multigenerational parish community comprising of 380 households located in the NW suburb of Houston. We see the presence of elders and children and everyone in between as a strength and gift. We strive to be a church where people find their value, their purpose, and their friendships in God’s love. St. Dunstan’s practices hospitality: the gift of welcoming others in friendship through worshiping and serving together. We offer many opportunities for everyone in the parish to join together in fellowship, ministry, and most importantly worship. We are a close-knit community faithful in our financial and service commitments, eager to share our love with others.

Rooted in Faith, Growing in Community... our core values reflect our mission to unite all people with the love of God.

OUR CORE VALUES

Children & Youth Ministries | Community Fellowship | Christian Formation | Outreach | Worship | Pastoral Care

  •  CHILDREN AND YOUTH MINISTRIES: We seek to nurture the spiritual development of children and youth by encouraging their participation in the life of our congregation and larger community.
  • COMMUNITY FELLOWSHIP: We gather often to build friendships and to share the love of God through interests, hobbies, activities, events, speakers, Bible study and outreach.
  • CHRISTIAN FORMATION: We share the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ through Biblical teaching and spiritual growth to develop Christian disciples.
  • OUTREACH: We are passionate about providing Christ-centered ministries beyond the walls of St. Dunstan’s by meeting the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of the local and global communities.
  • WORSHIP:  We look forward to celebrating the rich traditions of Episcopal worship while offering a variety of preaching styles, musical expressions, and opportunities to participate.
  • PASTORAL CARE:  We work to meet the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of persons in our parish with well—trained and responsive lay and ordained pastors. Our practice of pastoral care extends beyond times of crisis to encompass our daily lives.

Faith Formation

Children's and Youth Ministries programs strive to lead our children and youth towards the same faithful Jesus-following that we expect from their parents and grandparents. They are a vital part of our parish family: helping lead our worship, discovering and developing their faith, and making connections through fellowship and service.

We encourage adults to join in, too, as prayer partners, teachers, and mentors. Check out our web page to see all the programs we offer. If you have any questions, please contact us.

For over 50 years now we have hosted crafters from all over Houston at our annual fall festival which raises thousands of dollars for our outreach and ministries.

We partner with several organizations outside of St. Dunstan's to continue God's work.

Hope Center Houston is a faith-based nonprofit, offering a safe space and caring community, while providing resources for men and women experiencing homelessness.  St. Dunstan's help found Hope Center and many of our parishioners volunteer there on a weekly and daily basis.   Hope Center nurtures the body with breakfast, lunch, laundry, showers, and clothing, while assisting with medical and mental health needs. They offer life-skills classes, counseling, AA, and referrals to support efforts to transition off of the streets.

Kids Hope is a mentoring program where we meet with at-risk children from Eiland Elementary School. Each mentor is committed to meet with their assigned student each week for one hour. St. Dunstan's also provides prayer partners who pray over the children and support the needs of the teachers and administrators of Eiland with project scholarships, holiday parties and summer reading books. We are seeing lives changed.

Northwest Assistance Ministries - We hold several donation drives each year to help stock the Food Pantry, Diaper Closet, Christmas Toy Drive, Back to School Supplies and more.

Gulf Coast Blood Center - We hold several blood drives on campus each year.

Lakota Mission Trip - A group of parishioners travel to South Dakota each year to build relationships with the Lakota Indian Reservation.  St. Dunstan's has been instrumental in providing Vacation Bible School, a medical clinic building, micro loans, community meals, updating deteriorating Episcopal Church buildings and community spaces while demonstrating the love of Christ.
