Volunteer opportunities

One time opportunities
Ongoing commitment opportunities
Opportunities for mission groups

Outreach and Missions has always been important to the parishioners at the Episcopal Church of the Advent. In fact, some members began coming to this church because of the strong emphasis in Outreach and Missions in our Community. We hope you will enjoy seeing pictures, stories, and opportunities!

Mary H. Wright Elementary School
Room Moms and Dads: Looking for an easy and fun way to be involved at MHW? Consider being a Room Mom/Dad. There will be two planned parties for the year: Halloween and Valentine’s Day. Room Moms/Dads provide a simple “party” on those two days for one classroom. If you want to visit your class more frequently, the students and teachers would love that! To volunteer, please contact Laura Bauknight at lbauknight@churchofadvent.org.

Spartanburg Interfaith Hospitality Network (SPIHN)
Spartanburg Interfaith Hospitality Network (SPIHN) networks with religious congregations and social service agencies throughout Spartanburg County to provide temporary shelter, food and support to homeless families. To be eligible for SPIHN assistance, an adult must be a parent having children live with them, be drug and alcohol free, no history of violent crime, be working or actively looking for work, and be willing to help themselves to get their family back on their feet.

For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Steve Wyman or Laura Bauknight at lbauknight@churchofadvent.org

SPHIN is an affiliate of Family Promise (formerly the Interfaith Hospitality Network) which has over 190 networks spread across the United States.
