Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral is an open and inclusive community who takes to heart the command to love your neighbor as yourself. Located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, our Cathedral welcomes young and old, rich and poor, single and married/partnered, gay and straight. Guests and newcomers are always welcome. We are united by our witness of Christ’s redeeming love and the challenge of leading faithful lives in our complex world.

Our Mission is to be a Servant Church in the Heart of the City.

Sunday 5 p.m.—An Order For Evening With Holy Eucharist
This final service in the Cathedral’s Sunday schedule is a special and unique event. The liturgical focus is on a meditative and contemplative setting where worshipers can bring to a close the week past and prepare for the week to come. Most often held in the Cathedral Nave, the service is almost entirely sung and chanted, with congregational responses led by a cantor and organist team.

Sunday 5 p.m.—Choral Evensong (3rd Sunday of the month)
Choral Evensong is offered on the third Sunday of the month (October–May) at 5 p.m. by the Trinity Choir. This contemplative service lasts about 45 minutes and includes hymns, scripture readings, prayers, chanted Psalms, canticles and a choir anthem. With its origins in Archbishop Thomas Cranmer’s Book of Common Prayer (1549), Evensong is one of the most uniquely Anglican liturgies and is sung in cathedrals and parishes throughout the world. Eucharist is not offered at this service.

Mark the day with the Holy Eucharist. The service includes readings from scripture, a psalm and expressions of faith. This intimate gathering for prayer and worship is a wonderful time to pause during the work day.

Volunteer opportunities

One time opportunities
Ongoing commitment opportunities

The Cathedral supports a number of community organizations through donations of goods, money and services. Each month, we collect items for a different organization, including diapers, school supplies, toiletries and food. During the school year, we work with Harvesters to provide "Backsnacks" — food sent home weekly to school children who face food insecurity. Periodically throughout the year, members get involved with packaging food or presents for our community partners (baskets for Mother's Day at Sheffield Place, Christmas packages for St. Luke's Crittenton Children's Center, etc.). We promote volunteering at Pete's Garden, NourishKC and St. Paul's pantry.

We have provided the physical space for Pete's Garden since November 2022. Pete's Garden was founded in January 2020 to recover high quality prepared foods from restaurants, caterers, and food service operations and redirect this food as free, take-home family dinners. This year we expect to distribute over 100,000 meals to an expanding list of local social service agencies including: Operation Breakthrough, Jewish Family Services, Boys & Girls Club, and several local food pantries.
