Grace - St. Luke's Episcopal Church

Share a story

Grace-St. Luke's Episcopal Church is in the heart of Memphis. We are a vibrant church with members of many religious backgrounds and ages from across the city. All that have made Grace-St. Luke's their church home have done so for a variety of different reasons. But some that keep coming up are the glorious Episcopal worship service, the warmth of the community, the inspiring music, the passionate spirit of inclusion, and the open-mindedness that welcomes questions, debate, and discovery.

Who can come to God's table? Everyone. We welcome into Grace-St. Luke’s parish all people who seek to love God and participate in an open and supportive community based upon the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. That means we respect the dignity of every human person by welcoming and affirming all. We hope you'll visit us one Sunday morning. We look forward to meeting you.

Faith Formation
Meal Programs

Every Sunday, Grace-St. Luke's More Than A Meal invites the homeless and hungry to dine in our parish hall side-by-side with parishioners and other members of the community.

More Than A Meal provides a hot meal and, in addition, provides the dignity of table service, fellowship, and a break from the invisibilty that many of our guests live.

The goals of this ministry include:

  • getting to know our less fortunate neighbors, so that we may see the Christ in them, and they the Christ in us;
  • acting as instruments of God's love to our community; assisting those suffering from economic hardship;
  • developing the bonds of friendship and trust that will make it possible for us to help our friends free themselves from the bonds of mental illness and addiction;
  • and learning the lessons of faith that our guests have learned from their life experience.

We share this ministry with partners from Church of the Holy Communion, All Saints' Episcopal Church, St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Church of the Holy Apostles, and Idlewild Presbyterian Church.

PASTORAL CARE

Aging, Health and Wellbeing

How we care for one another is one of the most telling ways in which we live out our discipleship and demonstrate our love for one other.  At Grace-St. Luke’s, Pastoral Care is a shared ministry with both clergy and lay participants in care giving and leadership. Team members make holy touches to ensure members of our community and others are cared for and loved in times of illness, family crisis, births, deaths, as well as in times of celebration. Holy touches include cards, visits, meal and flower deliveries and Eucharistic visits. If your sense of vocation is to actively participate in Pastoral Care, contact the church office.

Outreach

Evangelism

The Vision of Grace-St. Luke’s Parish is to be a thriving community of hope, belonging, and healing through worship, parish life, and service, and who rejoices in the love of Jesus to transform the world. The Outreach Committee is assembled and charged to actively spread the simple message of “love your neighbor” by gathering, coordinating, and sharing parish gifts of time, talent, and treasure. We are committed to growing Grace-St Luke’s presence in the Memphis community, working with a limited number of Servant Ministry Partners to share this message of God’s love by feeding, clothing, and sheltering those in need; caring for the sick; welcoming the stranger; enabling children and families to overcome economic, educational, and health disparities; and supporting cultural diversity.
