St. Augustine Episcopal-Lutheran Church

Share a story

Saint Augustine's is a small mission church associated with Episcopal Church and the Lutheran (ELCA) church.  It has about 10 in attendance in the winter months and about 20 in the summer. It is a warm and welcoming place and is very accepting of diversity. White, black, hispanic, gay, straight, male, female, old, young, all are welcome. It serves Creede, a town of about 300 (that swells to several thousand in the summer.) Creede was an old silver mining town, now a town relying mainly on tourism.  Worship is informal but traditional. Music is generally traditional and played on the 1877 pump organ. Some more modern songs are used as well. The church is handicapped accessible (though the bathroom is not.). Our partnership priest Father Doug Neel comes twice a month; the onther Sundays have Holy Communion with our lay Pastoral Leaders or have Morning Prayer.
