St. Francis Center

Share a story

St. Francis Center is a refuge for homeless men and women in the metro Denver area, providing a daytime shelter along with services that enable people to meet daily needs for survival and to transition out of homelessness. On an average day, more than 770 people visit St. Francis Center. All are welcomed and treated with dignity and respect.

The St. Francis Center was established in June, 1983, by the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado in response to the increasing number of homeless people seeking assistance, especially near St. John's Cathedral. The Rev. Bert Womack served as the first executive director, from 1983 to 1994. Today, while the St. Francis Center is supported by many organizations and draws its volunteers from many places, it relies heavily on volunteers and contributions from local Episcopal parishes.
