About Episcopal - United Methodist Shared Ministries

The United Methodist-Episcopal Church dialogue began meeting in 2002; it was endorsed by the 2000 General Convention and reauthorized by the 2006 General Convention. The 2006 General Convention approved interim Eucharistic sharing with the United Methodist Church. Episcopal parishes are now authorized to hold joint celebrations of the Eucharist with United Methodist churches under the guidelines established by General Convention. The ecumenical work of the United Methodist Church is carried out by the Council of Bishops Office of Christian Unity and Interreligious Relationships.

The dialogue committee's proposal for full communion, A Gift to the World: Co-Laborers in the Healing of Brokenness, is under discussion and available here https://www.episcopalchurch.org/library/document/gift-world-co-laborers-healing-brokenness .
