Church of the Transfiguration
Share a story
Whoever you are and wherever you are in your journey of faith, our family welcomes you. Transfiguration was established as a mission of St. Luke's Parish, Monrovia, in 1948. The families that made up the Transfiguration congregation met first in a home, then a nearby school before the church building (later expanded – and expanded!) was brought to this property. A few of those first families continue to worship here and to be in service to God through partner organizations in the San Gabriel Valley.
Our beautiful grounds are tucked into a neighborhood just east of Santa Anita, a main thoroughfare of Arcadia. Except for a brief season between pruning and the bursting open of new buds, the center of our campus is a lovely memorial garden filled with roses. The on-campus Preschool is open year-round Monday-Friday, so we are alive with the sights and sounds of children at play.
With God’s help, our mission is to provide a place of worship, where, by the power of the Holy Spirit, people can experience the love of God in Christ, and, as a family, make ourselves and others feel visible and needed through worship, education, and outreach, while embracing diversity and maintaining tradition.
