Grace Episcopal Church Canton
Share a story
Grace Church, Canton, was established on August 22, 1836. The original frame church was erected in1842 and served the congregation until 1903 when the current church was built. It was moved behind the stone church as a parish hall and eventually demolished. In 1887 the current rectory was built. Currently the emphasis at Grace is on ministry. We run a community meal once a month, support missionaries, support KAIROS, actively promote ecumenical programs, and are presently engaged in using our vacant rectory as a halfway house for women in addiction recovery. To this end we have been working with other churches and people in the community; gaining a renewed perspective on God’s Kingdom.

Volunteer opportunities
Grace Church works closely with New Hope Transformation Ministries, Inc, which runs "Grace House". Grace House is a transitional living facility for women recovering from addiction. Several opportunities exist, ranging from volunteer resident transport, to helping cover our resident director when she is on holidays, through to many things in between.

Women's Halfway House (THM)
In July 2018, Grace Episcopal Church's parsonage was approved for a three year "trial" of a Women's Half Way House for those recovering from drugs and/or alcohol addiction.
Grace Episcopal Church - partnering with Transformation House Ministries - welcomes enquiries for potential residents but also for any help (financial, in-kind, in-person) that such a ministry might require.
Please be aware that there are a limited number of places for residents and whilst the Half Way House is auspiced under a Christian ministry, our outreach will be to any woman whom we might be able to provide a shelter whilst recovering from drugs and/or alcohol addiction.
Sadly, because the number of spaces are limited, we may need to turn many people away - but do not let this stop you from reaching out to us if you believe we can help you.
