St. Anna’s Mission Statement: (The following Mission Statement was crafted in 2015 by the Vestry) "St. Anna's purpose is to lead people into a growing relationship with Christ, to declare the liberating power of the Gospel, and to be the church that demonstrates the love of Christ through works of justice, mercy, empowerment and hospitality."
St. Anna's Church is located near the French Quarter in the historic Treme neighborhood. This location is a cross road of cultures, traditions, ethinicities and economic diversity. As such the missions of this church are born out of our very localized experiences. We were founded as a seamen's mission church. That same sense of identity as a mission church is still alive and well at St. Anna's.
The liturgy and much of the spiritual ethos of St. Anna's is Anglo Catholic yet it has adapted such to express the realities and spirituality of a new generation of seekers.

Volunteers utilized in our youth programs (after-school, Saturdays and Summer Camp) are preferred on a weekly basis.
Volunteers are utilized for our once-a-month food pantry to bag and distribute groceries-- some heavy lifting required.
Volunteers for homeless outreach pack small bags, visit with homeless with a clergy member -- some heavy lifting required.
Ministries
Anna's Place NOLA Youth Program: After School, Saturday and Summer Camp
Launched in February 2010 as Anna’s Arts for Kids, we offer a safe place for youth; academic enhancement; arts education and enrichment; and social and life skills education. The partnership between the arts and academics demonstrates new methods of learning, enhances literacy skills, and applies them to classroom learning, fosters self-discipline and personal responsibility, builds self-esteem, motivates the youth’s quest for knowledge, and demonstrates the intrinsic value of the arts in everyday life.
Our after-school program is designed to provide academic enrichment to youth attending poor performing schools. Students receive homework assistance, work in reading groups including a STAIR program, have computer coding class (with NOLA Code), learn music note reading, take music lessons (with LA Philharmonic Orchestra -LPO - musicians), have classes on morals/ethics/current events, and learn job readiness skills. Field trips to Loyola University for STEM activities, the Microsoft Store for computer literacy and the N.O. Museum of Art for arts education round out our program.
Our Saturday program's focus is more on the arts and includes dancing, African drumming, and visual arts. There is also Music Therapy (with Loyola University), a Life Lessons class (philosophy and life skills), computer coding, job readiness and recreation. Our more advanced music students attend a monthly youth orchestra with the LPO and students from local schools.
Summer camp is a combination of all of the above with the addition of swimming, fun (and educational) field trips, and classes to prevent learning loss during the summer.
Our students may be seen performing prior to the LPO's Swing in the Oaks Concert, at local fairs and events.
Volunteers Needed:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Saturdays from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Summers from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm the last two weeks of June and 2nd & 3rd weeks of July (off the week of 4th of July)
Anna's Place NOLA's Food Assistance Program
St. Anna's collects and distributes two weeks worth of groceries to fill the gap between food stamp release dates for those in emergency and transitional life situations. Distribution is monthly; application is required and space is limited. Clients are given information on more sustainable resources and rotate off approximately every six months.
Our homeless outreach includes weekly visits to the camps under the interstate highways with snacks, bottled water, toiletries, t-shirts and socks. Monthly morning visits also include hot coffee and holiday visits include sandwiches.
The Food Pantry is supported by the surrounding community through a series of fundraisers through local businesses and social clubs.

Victims of Violence Ministry
The Murder Board
The Victims of Violence ministry was born to name and remember the victims of violence, to pray for all impacted by urban violence including perpetrators, victims, families, officials, and police officers. The form of remembering was to list the names of each victim on a public tableau on the church wall. This tableau became known as “The Murder Board.” It serves to remind us of the human cost of urban violence without judgment of the individual. It memorializes everyone in Orleans and Jefferson parishes who have died since 2007, giving their name, date, age of death as well as cause of death.
Remembrance at Mass
Each Sunday the names of recent victims of violence are read during the Prayers of the People. A special remembrance is made on All Saints Day.
COVID 19 Food Assistance Response
Bags of non-perishable food items provided to families in need due to layoffs because of the pandemic. Especially targeted population are hospitality workers, musicians and the families of our youth program, but available to all as supplies permit.
COVID 19 Youth Outreach
Our youth program staff have assisted our students' families in obtaining school packets, registering for food assistance, and other providing other resources as needed. Staff have loaned laptops and musical instruments to students while they are out-of-school and have begun connecting with students via the internet to help with homework, provide reading time, have music lessons, continue the Business Club for Kids so they can launch their business platform, and just chat to keep kids engaged and reduce their stress.
