Church of the Good Shepherd/La Iglesia de Buen Pastor

We serve the poor, hungry, and needy in the city of Newburgh on Saturdays and Sundays. Saturday's meal is salad, a sandwich on whole grain bread, yogurt, chips cookies and a beverage of coffee, ice tea, water or juice. Sunday's is a hot meal consisting of a hot entree, tossed salad, bread, dessert and a beverage, We have volunteers who alternate monthly from different churches and organizations in the city.  The cadets at West Point volunteer one Sunday a month from Sept-May. We receive some donations of bread and desserts from a local Supermarket.  We also have a seasonal clothes closet that the people can utilize for free.  In the winter we have a coat rack of seventy or eighty coats.  At Christmas, we distribute a Christmas bag that contains toiletries, candy, cookies, socks, hats, and scarves.

Hours of operation:

"Saturday-12:00-1:30 prep time starts at 9:00 for the volunteers Sunday-12:00-1:30 prep time starts at 7:00am so volunteers can attend church before the serving time begins"
