Trinity is a brick church constructed about 1926. It seats about 150. Altar is still located in the traditional position. It serves Scotland Neck, a small town of about 2,500 in rural eastern Halifax County. Most commerce is centered around agriculture. The town has lost population since three small factories closed. The congregation was founded in 1832 and many members families have been here for several generations. Worship is Rite 2 during most of the year, except Advent and Lent, when Rite 1 is used. There is an 11 a.m. service on Sundays, with adult Christian education at 9:45 a.m. Once a month (5:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday) there is Rite 1 Evening Prayer at Old Trinity, the 1855 parish chapel (the former parish church) just north of town in a beautiful setting on a hillside by a lake and surrounded by large trees. There is no Sunday School for children. The congregation numbers around 40, mostly adults. This compassionate group welcomes people of all races or sexual orientations. There is a good choir usually numbering 7 to 9 people. Music is traditional Anglican church music, using 1982 hymnal. Choir sings an anthem, which may sometimes utilize "renewal" material.
