The mission of the Episcopal Church is:
To restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.
This mission of St. George's is:
To worship God and share our faith through word, action, and service.
Core Values
Worship
As Episcopalians, we hold that how we pray and worship God is central to who we are and what we do. While the Book of Common Prayer and the Hymnal are the central cohesive elements of our prayer life, we strive to provide a variety of worship services and approaches to assist all who seek a closer relationship with God.
Outreach
Helping those in need is at the heart of our understanding of the Gospel as we reach out to the larger community of the city, the nation, and the world.
Community
We believe that as church we become the body of Christ. Our goal is to build a diverse and inclusive community that recognizes the unique contributions of each member to bring about the greater good seeking to strengthen the bonds that join us in God's work
Acceptance
Our church encompasses people in different places on their journey of faith and understanding, including many who do not come from a Christian background. Aware that no one has all the answers, we seek dialog with people of other faiths to bring the Holy Spirit into a broken world.
Lifelong Learning
We think that faith, reason, and tradition are worthy of lifelong study. We believe that by following these paths of study we draw closer to God. We have found that the more that we know about our faith, the more God’s grace manifests in our daily lives and our interactions in the lives of others.
Worship times
A nursery is provided for infants and children through age four in Kleberg Hall during the 10:30 a.m. service. KidsWord, our Sunday School program for children and youth, meets during the first part of the 10:30 a.m. service. Join us after the 10:30 a.m. service for conversation and refreshments in the parish hall.
Ministries
St. George's Episcopal School
St. George's Episcopal School began in 1966 as a ministry of St. George's Episcopal Church. Initially, the school offered a morning program for children ages 3 to 5, which was primarily attended by children of the church's parishioners. Over the years, St. George's has become a full-day school serving a diverse population of students of many faiths.
Over the years, hundreds of children have taken their first steps in their educational journey at St. George's. The school offers a strong academic structure, disciplinary guidelines, moral and spiritual nurturing, all within a safe environment.
The school serves children ranging from 6 months to pre-K (4- to 5-year-olds). The school day is 8:30-3:30, Monday through Friday, with extended care options from 7-8:30 a.m. (Early Birds) and 3:30-6:00 p.m. (Fun Zone).
St. George's School is fully accredited by the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools and licensed through the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.
St. George's Church is represented in the school though membership on the board of directors; provides support to the school, including the use of its facilities and grounds; and offers spiritual guidance through the rector's frequent presence, including weekly chapel services.

Casa Marianella
A shelter for homeless immigrants and refugees located at 821 Gunter in East Austin offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, clothing services, referral services, and case management. If you need someone to help you with moving, yard work, or other unskilled labor, consider hiring one of the clients of Casa Marianella. If you need domestic help, Casa has a women's work list. Clients will need transportation to your house or work destination but will more than likely be able to catch a bus home if a metro stop is close by. Be prepared to pay a fair hourly compensation of $8 - $10 per hour. This is one way individuals from St. George's can provide them with some extra income to meet their needs. Call the day before with your request. The phone number to request unskilled labor is 385-5571. Contact Jennifer Long, director of Casa Marianella, for general information at 512.653.7874, or visit their website.
Christopher House Baskets
St. George’s provides baskets of snacks and personal care items each week to families at Hospice Austin's Christopher House, a beautiful facility for people with a terminal illness. Anyone with a question about buying or delivering a basket should check with Mary Stewart Miller (512.220.5821). For the families of those not receiving a basket, we also collect unopened, unused trial-size bottles of lotion, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and deodorant. No dental floss or razors, please. Collection baskets are on the tables at either entrance to the church.
Women's Storybook Project
Women's Storybook Project
The Storybook Project is a nonprofit, interfaith program that connects children with their incarcerated mothers through literature. Volunteers travel to Texas female prisons to record offenders as they read stories to their children. The mothers also give short messages and the tapes and new books are then mailed to children. This gives them a chance to hear their mothers’ voices while the mothers are away.
It is a simple idea with big impact. To be involved, you can donate money to St. George's (specify Women's Storybook Project), volunteer to travel to the prisons to record, or purchase sepcified books and tapes for the project. Contact Hollie Gordon (512.339.8864) if you'd like more information.
Hope Food Pantry
Hope Food Pantry
Hope Food Pantry (Hope), housed at Trinity United Methodist Church in Austin, provides groceries to approximately 90 families a week and approximately 1,000 individuals a month, many of whom are older adults, single parents, homeless, people with disabilities, unemployed, or under-employed. At its Fifth Sunday Potlucks, St. Georgians are invited to bring non-perishable food items for Hope. You can also be involved by helping deliver food items to Hope, or make a donation to St. George's (specify Hope Food Pantry in the memo line). Contact Vanessa Nering at 512.454.2523 to help.
