Share a story
We believe that the spirit of God lives in every human being, and that we are called to glorify that which unites us while at the same time celebrating the awesome diversity of God’s creations. All of us at St. Mark’s share a commitment to our faith and to our community, and we welcome visitors regardless of religious background, race, sexual orientation or gender identity. Everyone is welcome here.
Where are you today? Lonely and afraid? Joyful and confident? Somewhere in between? Wherever you are in your journey of faith, know that there is a place for you here, companionship for the journey in this community gathered.

Volunteer opportunities
St. Mark’s and St. Matthew's partner each week to prepare (Tuesday evening) and distribute (Wednesday midday) sack lunches to the homeless in Evanston every week! “Wednesday Lunch” involves preparing and packing between 40 and100 sack lunches on Tuesday after school/work and serving the lunches on Wednesday at St. Mark’s when the Interfaith Action of Evanston Hospitality Center closes for the morning. This is a multi-generational ministry! We encourage families, students, existing small groups (choir, vestry, children’s formation teachers, people with brown hair, families with small children, teens with (or without) attitude, young adults with zip – you get the idea) and new small groups from just St. Matthew’s, from just St. Mark’s and from combinations of the two to pack and serve lunches! Any person of any age who wishes to pack and/or serve is welcome. For more information or to volunteer, contact St. Mark's Community Engagement Coordinator at julianintern@stmarksevanston.org.
Ministries
Congregational Wellness
St. Mark's has 4 Congregational Wellness Advocates trained by The Living Compass. Throughout the year a number of small groups are facilitated by these Advocates. Groups include wellness for parents and building healthy relationships.
Community Music Night
Each Wednesday from 6:00-7:30pm, our associate for Music Ministries, David Plank, leads “Music Night” at St. Mark’s. People with any level of musical background—even those with no music experience—are welcome to come! If you like music, but can only play the radio, come join us! If you love to sing, but only sing in the shower, come join us! If you’re young and want to join a group where you’ll have fun with music, join us! If you’re old and have always wanted to be in a music group but just haven’t gotten to it yet, join us! If you’re a professional musician and want to simply relax and have fun with music, you won’t be bored! Sneak peeks include a “composer of the month”, where we’ll find interesting facts about various famous or not-so-famous composers, and an “instrument of the fortnight”, where you’ll get to see, listen to, and maybe even play on an instrument you may have never even heard of before!
Come meet us upstairs in the choir room every Wednesday night from 6:00-7:30. Younger children, starting at age five, are welcome to join with all ages from 6:00-6:30. Youth and adults can come (or continue) from 6:30-7:30.
Please contact David with any questions you may have at music@stmarksevanston.org.
Confirm Not Conform
CnC is a confirmation program that gives youth from St. Mark’s and St. Matthew’s a voice and a voice. . . and it is much more! It is a program that involves parents, adult mentors, and church leadership – connecting them with the youth and their ministry. It empowers youth for ministry, involving them in the life of the congregation, encouraging adults to seem them as the full and active members that they are. And, perhaps most importantly, it gives youth an opportunity to ask their questions and voice their doubts! Young people begin CnC when they are 13 or 14 years old. The program is offered every other year and runs for two years. CnC launched in September 2014. If you are a young person who would like to be involved OR if you know a young person who is 13 or 14 and you would like them to be involved, please contact Pastor Debra at rector@stmarksevanston.org.
