WELCOME ALL!

St Luke’s is a welcoming, multigenerational faith community that inspires spiritual growth, learning for all ages, lives of service, and a desire to make a difference in the world. We are committed to worship in the Episcopal tradition that celebrates the beauty and joy created by our preaching, liturgy, music, and the arts.

We aspire to be an inclusive Christian community, where our members can explore and celebrate their faith through worship, fellowship, and an active demonstration of God's love in the world. We seek to live with intention, guided by core values, engaging with compassion and authenticity, and inspiring each other through the sharing of ideas, questions, and our individual gifts. Our programs and activities reflect the needs and interests of parishioners of all ages and stages in life. They include a wide variety of opportunities for spiritual formation and Christian education, service to others, and caring for the natural world.

Volunteer opportunities

One time opportunities
Ongoing commitment opportunities

Nearly 80% of St. Luke’s households serve in one or more ways within our church community. From assisting in worship, offering hospitality and warmth, nurturing the next generation through education, expressing devotion through music or art, or extending a helping hand to those in need, there is a place for everyone at St. Luke's. All of our ministries represent the vibrant and compassionate community we strive to foster. Let us collectively embrace the joy of service, understanding that through our actions, we contribute to the creation of a brighter and more compassionate world!

Ministries

Moveable Feast

Food Pantries
Meal Programs

St. Luke’s local hunger ministry was started by two parishioners over 25 years ago, and it's still going strong today! Teams of three or four meet on Saturdays at church to make 50 bag lunches which they then deliver to another local church for distribution to the unhoused population.

Anti-Racism Task Force

Racial Reconciliation

This team helps establish our annual anti-racism goals and sees to their implementation and execution. They work closely with Evanston and diocesan anti-racism bodies. The task force meets once a month.

Green Team

Creation Care/Community Gardens

If you care deeply about God’s creation and want to work to lead our congregation towards greater justice for the earth and its inhabitants, join the St. Luke’s Green Team and help establish how the committee works and our priorities for the year. To date we have focused on formation and spirituality because the climate crisis is primarily a spiritual one; when we are estranged from God’s presence in the world around us and from nature, we harm the planet we call home. We hope to move our buildings and grounds, our waste program, our worship service, our leadership, and our formation offerings toward a recognition of God’s call to care for creation.

Interfaith Action of Evanston

Advocacy
Shelter and Housing

Inspired by diverse faiths and shared values, Interfaith Action of Evanston brings people together to serve hungry and homeless people, pursue interfaith dialogue, and engage in advocacy that promotes social justice for those we serve.

ReVive Center Christmas Basket Program

Donation Coordination/Distribution

Before Christmas every year, St. Luke's actively takes part in the ReVive Center's well-established initiative that brings together families and individuals from various parts of the Chicagoland area. The goal is to spread joy during the Christmas season by both giving and receiving gifts. By providing struggling families with Christmas Baskets, we not only assist them in navigating their challenges but also show that their community cares. Through the act of donating these baskets, ReVive and its kind-hearted donors provide the invaluable gift of hope.

United Power for Action & Justice

Racial Reconciliation

United Power is a non-partisan community organization composed of 40 religious congregations, not-for-profit groups, hospitals, health centers, and civic organizations from across Cook County. Our volunteer leaders are our backbone; they are concerned citizens who consult with neighbors, shape goals and strategies to address pressing social problems, and pressure people in power to seek positive, creative solutions.
