Emmanuel preschool (EEP) was founded by Emmanuel Episcopal Church in 1973 as a service to the Fullerton community.  The neighborhood was new then and flooded with young families. At the time, and for many years after, Emmanuel Preschool was a three hour morning enrichment program.  Later on a "Lunch Bunch" program was added so parents could extend their child's day another hour.  In the 1990s we expanded to a "school day" program (8am to 3pm) and most recently to full day care.  Over the years we have adapted to our communities changing needs.
One thing that has remained consistent is our hands on approach to learning and a commitment to providing quality care in a loving Christ-like environment.  Our philosophy is based on a constructivist approach which says that children learn through play, developing their own knowledge and skills by exploring their environment.  It's our goal to provide a rich environment prepared by the teacher, filled with toys, books, learning centers, manipulatives, sensory experiences, art supplies, loose parts, and building materials.  The children can explore their environment with the teacher as a guide and for support.
Children also learn social skills at Emmanuel such as self-regulation, time management, and sharing.  There is a balance of time to explore and teacher directed time, as well as indoor time and outdoor time. We have also added our beautiful community garden to our school site. The children enjoy planting and harvesting their section of the garden.  Cooking projects often come out of this garden adventure as well!  The garden is a great laboratory for learning about science in a hands on way.
Chapel time adds the spiritual aspect of our program and is presented in child appropriate ways.  Simple concepts, such as God made you, God loves you, etc. are presented through story and songs.  This rounds out our whole child approach.  We make it a point to nurture the whole child: body, mind, and spirit.  All in all, it is a well-balanced program that children enjoy, and because of that, they develop a lifelong love of learning!)                                                                                We have a colorful playground, a tranquil children’s garden and we are surrounded by the beauty of nature.  Our small class sizes and loving staff create a perfect place for learning and growing. You can choose full time or part time programs to meet your family and child care needs.
