Baton Rouge Area Flood Recovery 2017
In August 2016, approximately 31" of rain fell on twenty parishes in Louisiana, flooding more than 80,000 homes in two days. More than 80% of people flooded did not have flood insurance because they do not live on flood plains. The Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana is responding by providing materials for homeowner-supervised and directed rebuilding; providing appliances and personal items to replace flood-damaged goods; housing, feeding, supervising and training volunteer teams, as required; assisting with other needs such as income replacement, temporary housing, and storage; and providing pastoral and spiritual care for survivors, as needed.
