The Church of the Praying Hands
Now about the Praying Hands. In June of 2017, a wind storm caused a large limb of the ash tree to fall on the church vestibule. The little cross saved the roof from damage and lost its fluer-dis-lis parts in the process. A local tree trimming company offered to remove the tree limb for free. We later hired them to remove the remainder of the tree except for about 15ft of the trunk. An idea began to form in our head. Through a year of prayer and searching on social network, we found the right person to answer our prayers. Jeff of Bear Grove Chainsaw Carvings was commissioned to do the job. First, cut it to size. Then using his own hands, a parishioners hands and images of hands he was able to start shaping the praying hands. * He used sidewalk chalk to draw in the details. The work was done entirely by chainsaws. It only took 3 days to complete.
