Hurricane Relief in Dequincy, LA

After devastating hurricanes Laura and Delta in 2020, the Episcopal Diocese of Western Louisiana worked with Episcopal Relief & Development to assess unmet needs in under-served communities. The diocese convened gifts and needs assessment gatherings with local congregations and local organizations, discerned the diocese's ability to do long-term recovery programming, responded to short-term needs like housing, food and transportation, developed a mini-grant program to support congregations in their disaster recovery efforts, and wrote out a detailed long-term recovery plan. The Diocese continues assisting families with identifying and hiring contractors, organizing volunteers and through direct support in collaboration with the local LTRG.
