Holy Trinity (Old Swedes) Episcopal Church

Share a story

Holy Trinity (Old Swedes) Church was originally founded by Swedish Lutherans in the mid-1600s. They built the current church building in 1698 which is still in use every Sunday and on special occasions. The Swedish Lutherans ceded the church to the English and the Anglican Church in the early 1700s. It is the oldest church building still in use in the United States.

Arts & Culture

The Arts at Trinity (TAAT) is an arts and culture series in the heart of the city of Wilmington, developed and hosted by Trinity Parish in 2010. The series offers concerts and presents pop-up events in literature, drama, poetry and the visual arts.

All performances take place in Trinity Church.

Admission is free. Donations are gratefully accepted. The Arts at Trinity thanks Dr. William J. Stegeman and Jackson ImmunoResearch Laboratories, Inc., for their generous support.

Among the artists and events TAAT has been pleased to present are the Serafin Ensemble, which is the ensemble in residence at the University of Delaware; the Diane Monroe Ensemble (jazz); pianists Roberta Rust, Chad Bowles, Gil Scott Chapman, and Jennifer Nicole Campbell; soprano Kathryn Armour; the Wilson Somers Ensemble (jazz); folk duo Simple Gifts; the Taggart-Grycky Duo (guitar-flute); the High Roads (traditional Irish music); Los Rivales de la Sierra (traditional Mexican music); The Painting Table with artist Roger Hutchison; and a photography exhibit curated by Danny Schweers.
