Exodus Refugee Immigration Inc.
Share a story
Exodus has a long history of welcoming refugees and asylees from many countries, cultures, languages, faiths, and political opinions. We began in 1981 with the mission to serve the legal needs of immigrants and Cuban refugees, who had arrived as part of the Mariel boatlift in 1980. Since that time, Exodus has helped thousands of refugees from more than twenty countries establish their lives in Indiana. Our board of directors, staff, and volunteers are passionate about securing the dignity and human rights of people around the globe.
Our Mission
Exodus Refugee Immigration is dedicated to the protection of human rights by serving the resettlement needs of refugees and other displaced people fleeing persecution, injustice, and war by welcoming them to Indiana.
Volunteer opportunities
Exodus Refugee Immigration works in partnership with community partners, congregations and other faith community organizations, employers of refugees, local and state government and volunteers to carry out its work welcoming refugees to Indianapolis. From providing space for English or job skills classes, to mentoring a refugee family, tutoring refugee children in homework, practicing English skills with parents, assisting single mothers with childcare, or accompanying a family on their first trip to an American grocery store, opportunities abound for you and your congregation to make a positive impact on the life of a family and on your wider community.
We love to connect with people; if you feel like your congregation would benefit to learn about refugees and other humanitarian immigrants, or if you'd like to volunteer with Exodus, contact LJ Rudman, Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator, at lrudman@exodusrefugee.org for more information.
