Colorado Haiti Project

The Colorado Haiti Project (CHP) operates with a small staff in Colorado (2 employees), several interns, a host of dedicated volunteers and a larger staff in Haiti (45 employees). We work in partnership with the Haitian people to achieve developmental goals that lift communities out of extreme poverty by increasing access to and capacity for foundational educational opportunities, community health, and economic self-sufficiency. We model community development that is both sustainable and locally driven. Whenever possible, we make use of Haitian experts and resources to implement projects and provide necessary supplies to the community.
CHP was founded in 1989 by three Episcopal priests: Haitian Father Octave LaFontant and Colorado Fathers Dayle Casey and Ed Morgan. Today, we actively recruit community and parish members to advocate, manage programs and raise funds that support our work in Haiti. Our projects receive widespread financial and strategic support from faith-based communities, especially the Colorado Episcopal Diocese. CHP also benefits from grants, private and public foundations, and sponsorships for educational and specific projects. The majority of CHP funding comes from individual donors.
