Jollification! 100-plus tour Hertford's historic sites during PCRA's Jollification!
Father Whit Stroud appears in a photo that accompanied a feature story published in the local newspaper. The story reflects on the 2024 Hertford Historic Homes tour.
"Tour-goers also met Father Whit Stroud, the new rector at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, which was built between 1849 and 1850. Stroud is a Washington, N.C., native who just began serving at the church in September.
Stroud welcomed visitors to the church, where each tour began, and explained a little about the church’s architecture and furnishings, which include an organ acquired in 1854.
“The church is a traditional, Colonial Episcopal church, and its Gothic (Revival) style is shown in the high arch ceilings and the style of woodwork that we have,” he said. “A lot of what you see here is original. Our biggest piece, the organ, is a wonderful instrument. It’s a really historic church.”
